One Direction gets Grumpy Cat blessing

One Direction gets Grumpy Cat blessing

What you see here, is the response from 4chan to Apple’s offer on 12 Days of Christmas app, when they offered free One Direction “music” video.

12 Days of Christmas – free app from Apple. Once a year, over the Christmas time, offers the selection of apps, featured for free only over that time. It used to be very attractive, for instance, last year they offered SnapSeed (one of the best photo editing apps for mobile devices, from German NIK software) or Need for Speed.

Google Maps for iPhone is back

Google Maps for iPhone is back

Google Maps for iPhone is back – and it is just awesome. After long absence – it was removed along with the introduction of the iOS6 and replaced with widely hated Apple Maps – it is back, for now only for iPhone. iPad version is not yet available.

New, improved interface, live traffic, directions, Street View – it all there and it works like charm. Yes, it’s good to have it back. Even a turn-by-turn navigation works brilliantly, even when in background, it displays messages along with voice guidance by the notifications bar at the top of the screen. Clever!

Update:

Of course, as expected, Google Maps got a very warm welcome from iOS users all over the world. At the moment, is it the most downloaded application in App Store, got to the top of the Top Free iPhone App category in just few hours with over 1500 mostly five star positive comments. Way to go, Apple!

What you see is the first pictures of iPad mini. I was not convinced to it, since I own iPad 2 – so why change something bigger to something smaller? But when I put my hands on it, I got enlightened – and I must say, it is brilliant. Elegant, small, surprisingly thin and light – and gosh, it’s fast, really fast. The screen, not Retina though – it’s very, very good. When you have a chance – have a look. It is worth it.

What you see on those pictures is a size comparison to old iPad 2, iPhone and iPod Touch.
What you at the very bottom – is what happens when we got carried away a little.

Apple Maps, widely hated replacement of Google Maps. It is not that bad, in general I like it, it’s much much faster, I like the traffic service and turn by turn navigation. It’s not as good as Navigon I use, but since it’s very new – it’s ok. Having said that, I have asked Apple Maps to navigate me from Grodzisk Mazowiecki (outskirts of Warsaw, Poland) to Poleczki street south of Warsaw.

Normally, Route 1 from the picture below is what you want, but since I got the option to take Route 3, leading via S2 ring road of Warsaw, that was due to be completed for Euro 2012 (June), I armed myself with my MTB bike and off I went.

Mac OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion installation screen

Ok, for starters, it’s not a Mac OSX anymore. It’s OSX – Apple wants us to forget about the Macintosh or Mac, for some bizzarre reason. Anyway – OSX Mountain Lion is here.

Razer DeathAdder, Razer Goliathus

Good bye, Apple’s Mighty Mouse, I’ve used for years. Constant problems with the roller, not really precise on different surfaces. There’s new mighty mouse in the house – Razer’s DeathAdder. Amazingly precise, quick, great resolution, one of the best on the market. I am not a gamer – but I’m starting to be a Razer fan – I have the headphones, Razer Orca – and they are remarkable as well.

MobileMe is closed

I can’t remember any other Apple service, that changed it’s name so often. It started as free iTools, then was changed to .Mac, then there was widely hated MobileMe and now it’s time for iCloud. Apple unsuccessfully struggled to provide decent service – will it be any better, than MobileMe? Time will tell, first symptoms are not very promising – spam protection is very bad (especially when compared to excellent Gmail from Google), plenty of synchronisation services have been terminated, as well as pretty nice and useful web galleries. So – let’s see, where this goes.
