This is a picture of the car I washed like three hours ago. No, it’s not Paris or Kraków, where the amount of pollution is unbearable. This incredible amount of dust is a proof that the spring came and the trees and the grass blossom. Finally. I miss winter of course, but let there be a nice, warm spring. If you are allergic – take cover. Seriously.
Włochy, small town near Warsaw, was built with the “garden city” idea in mind at the beginning of the 20th century. It is really beautiful, with lots of green spaces, like english parks and ponds. Below you can see the evening scene from one of the ponds, with nice, lit fountains that not only look great but also feed the fish with oxygen.
Włochy, small town south-west from Warsaw, lays on clay. As the result of that about 100 years ago, this town on the outskirts of Warsaw, was full of brickyards. I have heard the stories that the bricks from Włochy were excellent, therefore were expensive – today there is not a single brickyard around. Too bad that nearly no bricks survived and today it’s nearly impossible to get hold of one – they are extremely highly rated by local society as a great token of remembrance. Those bricks are pretty characteristic – every single one has a big imprint “Włochy”.
Włochy is by far the most beautiful town in the outskirts of Warsaw, it was built according to the “garden town” idea. It is full of parks, ponds and other green places. Few shots from today’s walk – as an interactive panoramas.
This is what I’ve met today on the Dźwigowa street, the one connecting Włochy with Warsaw. Google’s Street View car was capturing the images of the streets in Włochy, so most likely in the close future the maps and Street View of our little town will be updated.
EKD (Elektryczna Kolej Dojazdowa), later renamed to WKD (Warszawska Kolej Dojazdowa), one of the local railways connecting Włochy to Warsaw – Włochy is about 5 miles from Warsaw to the west. This block of pavement is a rare remnant of the old name of this railway.
Are you local? If you have ever watched The League of Gentlemen, you know, what I mean.
Remember Włochy, small town near Warsaw, with great local society with great ideas? Here’s the next, 4th edition of the famous Włochowska Gra Podmiejska, where you can learn a lot from locals about different local stories, traditions, famous people living around, historic owners, dances, trains, architecture and whatever you might think of. You can meet your neighbours, you’d never met otherwise, you can make new friends – and you can become known to other locals, which is something we all miss these times. Below you will find some pictures – I will write more on this story later and I will add picture descriptions. In general – it was fantastic, even better than a year ago. Can’t wait for the next one!
